Brief Mission: At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cumberland & Salem Counties (BBBS), our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Our vision is for all youth to achieve their full potential. We are an affiliate of BBBS of America. Our local agency began in the 1970's as Big Brothers of Vineland and in September of 1982, BBBS began serving both boys and girls within Cumberland County.

In 1995, we established our first Site-Based Mentoring Program for volunteers to meet with children in spaces such as a school, workplace, church, or a library. By 2005, the agency expanded service to include Salem County.

In 2017, a generous donor gifted us with a building, and we completed our first endowment fund campaign. A new brand and logo were introduced in 2018 in alignment with our national affiliate, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s, new marketing toolkit. In 2019, we launched Mentor2.0: A College and Career Readiness Program, a three-year program that serves high school juniors and seniors, and post-secondary young adults. Our 2023-2024 goals include the relocation of our office to a centralized location between the two counties that we serve. Renovations have been completed and we are planning a grand opening celebration the New Year.

  1. The Digital Form Developer Intern will work with the BBBS Director of Programs and other program staff members to complete a thorough review of all program participation paperwork to create a plan for the development of digital forms. This will be the first step in making these forms available electronically and via the organizations website.

  2. As program forms are reviewed and a conversion plan is created, the intern will work with the BBBS Director of Programs to set a timeline for completion and a process for purchasing any necessary tools/products.

  3. The Digital Form Developer Intern will then convert all program participation forms (mentee application, mentor application, surveys, and additional paperwork required for program participation) from paper to digital format

  4. After all forms are developed, the Digital Form Developer Intern will upload digital forms to the BBBS website and create an electronic folder for storage of the forms.

  5. The Digital Form Developer Intern will run tests to ensure that each form is working properly and can be completed in their entirety online. After testing is complete, the Digital Form Developer Intern will create a step-by-step, detailed How To guide that BBBS staff may use for future digital form development and editing.

  6. The final step will include the creation of a digital survey that will be provided to each new enrollee to assess whether or not the digital forms are user friendly. The Digital Form Developer Intern will collect feedback from the surveys and create a report that will be shared with BBBS staff and board members.

  1. The Program Services Intern will assist with volunteer and mentor recruitment practices that include attending community events with a marketing table to engage potential participants, participate in the weekly public relations/marketing committee meeting (social media, press releases), preparation of waiting little highlights and new match announcements, and attending and participating in volunteer information sessions.

  2. After significant training, the Program Services Intern will assist with the enrollment of new volunteers and new youth into one of the BBBS programs. This will require the intern to help the applicant complete the application, to conduct an interview, and work with a staff member to determine eligibility and identify characteristics that will aid in the matching process.

  3. The Program Services Intern will work alongside of a program staff member to make matches. The intern will travel to a site/residence with the program staff member to introduce a mentor and a mentee. Paperwork will be completed and communication with the youth’s caregiver will also take place

  4. The Program Services Intern will prepare entries under the supervision of a program staff member within the organization’s web-based system after adequate training has taken place. On-going entries will be completed on a weekly/monthly basis according to the policies and procedures within each program

  5. The Program Services Intern will support the BBBS staff with special events. Special Match and Family Engagement, bookbag give-away, Assistance with planning and carrying out detailed instructions will be required.

  6. The Program Services intern will assist with the conduction of outcome surveys annual update of contact information of program constituents.

  1. The Resource Development Intern will assist the Development Team in planning and organizing an annual event. The model that will be followed is Benevon, formerly known as Raising More Money. This model is used to create sustainable funding for nonprofits. Responsibilities will include recruitment, training and coaching Table Captains for an annual event.

  2. The Resource Development Intern will assist in designing content for social media platforms, encouraging donations and attendance for fundraising events.

  3. The organization is in the process of a capital campaign. The Resource Development Intern will work alongside the development staff to implement cultivation strategies, electronically communicate with fundraising committee members, and record progress as well as committee meeting notes.

  4. The Resource Development Intern will attend all fundraising events as a member of the fundraising committee. Responsibilities will include processing of event ticket purchases, data entry, day-of tasks (set-up, take-down), registration and processing of at-door ticket purchases, and participation in follow-up meetings.

  5. The Resource Development Intern will enter donations and contributions into the organization’s management database once training in the use of the system is complete.

  6. The Resource Development Intern will assist with gathering data for the grant writer throughout the grant writing and grant reporting processes. Brief Mission: The Barnegat Bay Partnership is a partnership of federal, state, municipal, academic, business, and private organizations that work together with the communities of the Barnegat Bay watershed to help restore, protect, and enhance the water quality and natural resources of the Barnegat Bay and its watershed. It is one of 28 National Estuary Programs throughout the United States and is administered by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The Barnegat Bay Partnership is a department of Ocean County College, a community college located in Toms River, New Jersey.

The BBP develops a Comprehensive Conservation Management Plan as a roadmap for the agencies, organizations, and local communities working collectively to improve the condition of this nationally significant estuary. It identifies the actions in the plan that are most vulnerable to climate change risks and the strategies for minimizing the impacts. Another important component of the CCMP is education and community participation in stewardship actions, which are critical to the plan’s success.
